Tintswalo Atlantic, Cape Town

What a sunset

What a sunset.

On Tuesday my other half and I were lucky enough to spend a night at Tintswalo Atlantic. Following a media dinner there two weeks prior, I knew it was the perfect location for his birthday. As a surprise, I organised a massage, dinner and stay-over for us.

Tintswalo Atlantic is a 5-star luxury lodge, located at the base of Chapman’s Peak Drive and on the water’s edge. The location is unrivalled and this hotel is definitely in my top five of the best places to stay in Cape Town. The view is quite literally breathtaking, the suites are luxurious and beautifully decorated and the service is exceptional.

Good times.

Good times. Clockwise from top left: five-course dinner for two; Luke’s surprise birthday cake, courtesy of the Tintswalo chef; we stayed in Cousine suite; enjoying a cosmopolitan cocktail before dinner.

If a stay is not in the budget, book for dinner, lunch or breakfast, so that you can experience this slice of heaven for yourself. (To note: bookings are imperative and need to be made at least 24 hours in advance). Spa treatments can be made on request.

Breakfast with a view.

Breakfast with a view.

Each suite is named after a different island of the world; we stayed in Cousine (an island of the Seychelles), which was very fitting, as, since our first visit to the Seychelles in 2011, my partner and I have been making plans to relocate there in the future. Having said that, a night at Tintswalo Atlantic every now and then may be all the escape we need…

Heaven. Clockwise from top left: the view from the bath in the Cousine suite; bubbly in the bath with a sunset made me feel like it was in fact my birthday; beautiful pink sunset skies from all parts of the property.
